God’s Big Story: Elisha

Elisha Series Launch

• New “God’s Big Story” series focusing on Elisha through Jesus

• Elisha performed 14 miracles (double portion of Elijah’s 7)

• Key lesson from widow’s oil miracle (2 Kings 4:1-7):

  • Widow had only jar of oil, massive debt, children at risk

  • Elisha instructed: collect many vessels from neighbors

  • Oil multiplied to fill all vessels, paid debt with abundance

• Contrast with King Joash’s arrows (2 Kings 13:14-21):

  • Prophet told king to strike ground with arrows

  • King only struck 3 times instead of 5-6

  • Limited victory due to halfhearted obedience

• Central message: “Don’t go halfway” - God multiplies what we fully commit

• Seven areas to “spend it all”:

  1. Time (reduce social media, increase focus)

  2. Money (generosity over savings)

  3. Passion (spend your passion for the kingdom)

  4. Talents (use all spiritual gifts)

  5. Relationships (encouraging words cost nothing)

  6. Prayer (listen to God, not just talk)

  7. Scripture study (know God’s heart)
