    • Paul as bond servant, apostle, set apart for gospel

    • Jesus as ultimate human king (descendant of David) and divine Son of God

    • Resurrection as proof of divinity

  • Gospel definitions explored

    1. Jesus’ defeat of sin and death on cross

    2. Invitation to join King Jesus’ royal family in renewal mission

    3. Worship for Him and His love for us

  • Sin explained as missing God’s mark, rebellion, misuse of opportunities

    • Romans 6:23: wages of sin is death, but free gift is eternal life

    • All have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory

First Century Gospel Context & Fulfillment

  • Historical context: “gospel” originally announced new Roman emperors

    • Caesar called “son of god” and “lord” - early Christians risked death declaring “Jesus is Lord”

  • Jewish expectations fulfilled through Jesus

    • Sins forgiven, new covenant established, believers as God’s temple

    • Holy Spirit poured out, Gentiles included, enemies (sin/death) defeated

    • Resurrection demonstrated, creation renewal promised

  • Call to action: congregation equipped to share gospel message

    • Challenge to explain gospel in 3-minute Uber ride

    • Prayer for lost to be drawn to church and family members struggling with faith
