Tribe Recap of August 26, 2017 | Joshua 9

Consider these spectacular scriptures about the power of ASKING!

  • “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God,” Philippians 4:6
  • “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you,” Matthew 7:7
  • “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you...” Luke 11:9
  • “...ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full,” John 16:24
  • “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, He delivered them out of their distress,” Psalm 107:6

There are many others like this.

When Joshua failed to seek the Lord’s counsel in chapter 9, he ended up going momentarily in the wrong direction. Joshua needed to ASK.

The God of all the heavens LOVES IT WHEN WE ASK.

He loves being around us and he deeply desires our coming to him for help. He appreciates our questions. Often we don’t have because we don’t ask. The Lord wants your joy to be full, so ask him for the desires of your heart. If Joshua had asked, he would have had clarity concerning the trickery of the Gibeonites and could have avoided being deceived.

We need to learn this: that God longs for us to enter his presence to ask his opinion, to ask for his help, to seek his heart. How else can we gain the wisdom required to do all that God has planned for us to do? Don’t you know that you will judge the world? You will even judge angels (I Corinthians 6:2-3)! There are issues of immense gravity in this world and the world to come that require you to have God’s wisdom. Ask.

In addition to this, Jesus asks that you be full of joy! He wants your joy to be ‘made full!’

So I cannot encourage you in strong enough terms – ASK. Ask for the desires of your heart. Ask for wisdom. Ask for breakthrough. Ask for health. Ask for resources. Ask for guidance. Ask for community. Ask that nothing stand against you. Ask the Lord of Heaven that the great God-dream planted within you grow to be a giant-killer and a builder of the Kingdom of God! You have been called for such a time as this. Now ask for it!
